  1. We need to change how the economy and consumption works.  We
  2. need to stop buying a new car/washer/stereo etc. every couple
  3. of years.  I just moved out of the house I was sharing with my
  4. friend.  I had little furniture.  So I borrowed or bought
  5. second hand furniture from friends and got some old stuff from
  6. my ex-husband and refinished it.  I now have a two bedroom
  7. apartment full of furniture, none of it new.  I buy almost all
  8. my books at second hand stores or Goodwill.  The only thing I
  9. buy new is food and some of our clothes.  We need to get out
  10. of the consumer mentality.  If I could I'd grow my own food.
